Kedah Ramps Up Tourism Promotion for Visit Malaysia Year 2026

ALOR SETAR – The Kedah State Government is intensifying tourism promotion efforts for Visit Malaysia Year (VM) 2026 through infrastructure upgrades and international campaigns.
Initiatives include a lift at Gunung Keriang, upgrades to the Sungai Sedim Tree Top Walk, the opening of the Sungai Teroi Eco Forest Park, and a new attraction featuring a mengkundor tree aged over 100 years at Gunung Jerai. Beautification works at Pantai Leman and Port Padang Garam in Kuala Kedah are also underway.
Through Familiarisation Trip (FAM Trip) programmes, nearly 300 participants comprising travel agencies, social media influencers and media representatives from Thailand, China and Indonesia have toured attractions across the state.
Kedah Tourism has also run promotions in Japan, Thailand and Brunei, along with a B2B programme in Sabah involving 16 tourism companies. The goal is to position Kedah as a leading alternative destination in the Peninsula alongside Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang.
