KUALA KEDAH – Kota Kuala Kedah has been chosen as one of the focal tourist destinations for Visit Malaysia Year (VM) 2026, reviving the historic fort as the state's premier heritage destination.
Key attractions include the historic fort walls that have witnessed Kedah's defence since the 18th century, the Kota Kuala Kedah Museum, the traditional fishing jetty, and stunning sunset views over the Strait of Malacca.
The initiative is expected to open wider opportunities for small entrepreneurs, cultural practitioners and the local fishing community through sustainable tourism development.
Kuala Kedah is also known as the main gateway to Langkawi via ferry services, making it a strategic stop for tourists to enjoy its historical heritage and the famous laksa Kuala Kedah.
