Gunung Jerai Eco Park

The Gunung Jerai Eco Park is situated at the base of Gunung Jerai, one of Kedah's most iconic mountains. Rising approximately 1,217 metres above sea level, this limestone peak not only dominates the state's landscape but also holds significant ecological value, with rich biodiversity spanning its forest trails from base to summit. The eco park features well-maintained hiking trails suitable for all fitness levels — from visitors seeking a peaceful forest stroll to serious hikers aiming for the summit. A full hike to the peak and back takes roughly four to six hours. Along the way, hikers pass through lush lowland forest, quartz-strewn highland terrain, and reach a summit that rewards them with sweeping views of paddy fields and the coastal strip beyond. Key attractions within the area include a Viewing Tower offering panoramic vistas of the Kedah plains, the serene Tasik Telunjuk nestled within the forest, and the classic trail leading to the summit peak. Early morning departures are highly recommended to catch the sunrise from the top. The most comfortable months to visit fall between April and October, when the weather is milder and the landscape is at its greenest. Visitors are advised to start as early as 6:00 AM for the best experience. Hikers should carry sufficient water, wear appropriate clothing, and use comfortable footwear. Those who prefer not to summit can still enjoy the forest atmosphere and fresh mountain air from the park's lower sections. Gunung Jerai and its eco park remain one of northern Malaysia's most treasured natural destinations.
