Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar Maktab Mahmud

Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar Maktab Mahmud is situated within the grounds of Maktab Mahmud 2, Taman Teratai Jingga, in the Pokok Sena district of Alor Setar. The name "Saidina Abu Bakar" is a tribute to Prophet Muhammad's closest companion, Abu Bakar al-Siddiq, renowned for his unwavering faith and bravery. This mosque serves as a spiritual and educational centre for the local Muslim community in Taman Teratai Jingga and surrounding areas. It hosts the five daily prayers, religious lectures, and Islamic educational programmes run by Maktab Mahmud, an institution known across Kedah for Quranic studies and religious instruction. Unlike more famous traditional mosques such as Masjid Zahir, this mosque offers a distinctive experience through its connection to the Maktab Mahmud educational institution, making it a lively place filled with the hum of learning and religious activity. The Maghrib prayer time is especially beautiful — when the azan echoes across the neighbourhood and the mosque lights glow against the evening sky, creating a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.
